Moving Forward

Thus far, The Kingdoms of Day has won it's first award through the NABE Pinnacle Awards and brought in more than $100.00 of royalties during the second book signing. The bigger goal I have in mind is to get into Barnes and Nobel. That's going to be a real challenge!

  1. Snail mail the corporate offices? Show up a Portland store and speak to the manager?

  2. Nice idea, but there are other things that come into play. I self-published through Createspace.com and they are in competition with "Barnes and Nobel". I'm planning on looking into it, but there could be legal things to hold me back. Barnes and Nobel use their own print press for books in their stores. I would have to give them my book's digital date. Before my book can be on their shelves I have to have outstanding marketing skills, good sales history, and the legal right to share my book date from Createspace.com with a competitor.

In short, it's trickier than that, but I'm trying to make a name for myself on a smaller level right now. In the future I plan to bang on their door real hard. Your proposition is my eventual game. I just have to have good backing and the rules on my side first. As a college student, money is going to be short. Bare with the poor starving artist. =)
